Rostrum - raised platform for speech-making, pulpit
Usage -  She climbed on to the winner's rostrum
Link - sounds like ROJ(daily)+DRUM- on school's PULPIT/raised platform, roj drum bajaya jaata hai...
Link2 - Apka dost roj rum peene ke baad rostrum pe chad kar  drum bajata hai...

Rotund - (of a person) fat and round
Usage - A rotund man came to the desk to ask for books
Link - remove the "t" in the word....it becomes round...
Link2 -  sounds like ROTi & UNDa(egg).....If you eat ROTi & UNDa(egg) routinely, you become rotund.....

Rout - to defeat easily and completely in a battle or competition
Usage - His confidence helped him prevent the match turning into a rout.
Link - sounds like "are out". all Indian batsmen are out....Team faces "rout".... 

Rubric - set of instructions written in a book, an exam paper etc., title or heading (in red print)
Usage - It is usually discussed under the rubric of `functional obesity'" 
Link -  sounds like ruBRICk..so BRICKS are usually in red in color and and every brick has a company name on it(title) on it....

Rudimentary - elementary, not developed, fundamental element or principle
Usage - These are the rudiments of the language
Link -  kids in elementary schools are rudimentary..they hardly know anything about any adult education...

Rue - regret
Usage - He wrote a note expressing his rue.
Link - sounds like ruin...you rue after you ruin everything....
Link2 - also it sounds like ro(weep)....you weep when you rue...

Ruffian - a violent man esp one who commits crime
Usage - All the children feared the ruffian.
Link - sounds like Russian...all russian men are ruffian..also it sounds like "rough"-ian. i.e., a rowdy person.

Ruminate -  to think deep about something
Usage - I ruminated the events of the afternoon
Link - split it as RUM+I+ATE...so I ate meat and drank rum for the first time and kept PONDERING and BROODING about it...

Runic - mysterious
Link - in Lab yu have RUINED the IC(integrated chip)..now teachers asks who did this and all keep mysterious faces..

Ruse - trick to deceive
Usage - His alibi was an artifice that succeeded in misleading the investigators. 
Link - ruse: re+ use, in a shop the shopkeeper reused the old goods, which is deceptive..
