Labile - likely to change, unstable
Usage - He is an emotionally labile person
Link - read it as "liable" to change,i.e UNSTABLE....
Lachrymose - producing tears, tearful
Usage - It was a very lachrymose situation
Link - sounds like lac(a lakh)+chry(cry)+mose(most),so when you cry most you produce 'tears' especially when you loose a lakh rupees....
Laggard - slow, lazy person
Usage - Bob was angry with Mary because of her laggard response to his call; she didn't get back to him until three days later!
Link - our guard is a laggard and always lags behind the thieves..
Link2 - wounded LEG makes you slow m sluggish...
Laity - all the members of the church who are not clergy(pope), laymen
Usage - This group of laity is very efficient and faithful
Link - sounds like laitee(to lie down)....wo din bhar laitee rahi because she was a laity....she was relaxing...
Lament - grieve, express sorrow
Usage - Their pitiful laments could be heard throughout the ward
Link - sounds like l[amen]t....we lament the death by saying 'amen'..
Lampoon - criticize somebody publically in an amusing way, ridicule
Usage - He was an expert at writing and directing lampoons
Link - if you pour oil for a LAMP with a SPOON ppl will ridicule cos for a lamp you should pour a lot of oil!..
Link2 - sounds like langoor...girls usually say to guys...kangooron wali shakal hai teri...to ridicule them publically...
