Iconoclast - a person who criticizes popular beliefs or established traditions, one who destroys sacred images

Usage - Ram is an iconoclast

Link - icon = idol...clast = fragments....so, one who destroys idols into pieces is iconoclast.

Link2 - An iconoclast doesn't follow the existing icons....

Idiosyncrasy - behavioral peculiarity, eccentricity in behaviour

Usage - His idiosyncrasy made him notorious.

Link - Idiot & crazy people are more idiosyncratic....

Idyllic - charmingly carefree, simple and happy

Usage - This is an idyllic spot for a picnic

Link -  sounds like idli...south indian dish...and its a very simple and good food....and roof is an idyllic place for eating idlis...

Ignoble - unworthy, not noble, dishonorable

Usage - There is something cowardly and ignoble in his attitude 

Link - Nobel persons never do ignoble deeds...

Link2 - sounds like igno(ignore)+ble(able)..so if something IS unworthy and not noble, ONE should be able to ignore them.....

Ignominy - public shame and loss of honour

Usage - One mistake brought shame and ignominy to all his family.

Link - Laloo prasad yadav suffered ignominy when his name was ignored on stage....

Link2 - IGNO(IGNORE)+miny(enemy)...so YOU ignore your enemy because you have a DEEP DISGRACE FOR HIM....and your enemy feels ignominy...

Imbecility - stupidity, low intelligence level

Usage - His imbecility made him suffer a great loss in his business

Link - mba ke bees saal bhi he is an imbecile...

Link2 - sounds like i am be(being) silly ... meaning silly , fool , stupid..

Imbibe - to absorb something (esp information or to drink alcohol)

Usage - The patient must imbibe several liters each day
Link - a person should imbibe principles from Bible..

Imbroglio - complicated situation that causes confusion

Usage - Rahul was in a state of imbroglio when the teacher scolded him in front of girls. 

Link - Imbroglio when Mayawati ko Atal Ji ke sath pyaar ka rog lag gya...

Link2 - I+M+bro+gigolo = I am brother of a gigolo (male prostitute).. which can be a very embarrassing or difficult situation...

Link3 - sounds like  I+M+brog(=frog)+lio(=lion). Suppose in a play, you have to choose between characters of frog and lion, you will be in a complicated situation.

Imbue - saturate, to fill with strong feelings and strong opinions

Usage - An atmosphere of distrust has imbued this administration

Link - sounds like nimbu....do not "saturate " your nimbu pani with lots of nimbu ,, it will taste bitter 

Imminent -  close in time; about to occur

Usage - Some people believe the day of judgment is imminent

Link - sounds similar to immediate. so imminent means about to occur immediately...

Immolate - offer or kill as a sacrifice (by fire)

Usage - The Aztecs immolated human victims

Link - sounds like omelette(egg) where a chicken is scarified to satiate hunger...

Immure - to imprison

Usage - The suspects were immured without trial

Link - mure sounds like "maar" (kill in english)...you kill someone and you get imprisoned...

Impair - injure, hurt, damage

Usage - His vision was impaired

Link - Opposite of Repair.Repair is to mend, Impair is to Injure....

Impale - pierce, to push a sharp pointed object

Usage - The enemies were impaled and left to die

Link - her face was pale when he impaled a knife in his stomach in front of her...
