Meretricious - flashy, attractive on the surface but of no real value
Usage - Don’t be fooled by Ruby’s meretricious praise.
Link - like a merit (meret) certificate.. flashy and attractive in a way.. but of no REAL value...u guys also must have received a lot of them...have u used them till now???
Mete - measure, to mete out a punishment means to give somebody punishment,distribute, administer
Usage - The king declared war after the mete had been breached by the neighboring kingdom.
Link - METE rhymes with meat..meat is never given just like that..its always MEASURED and DISTRIBUTED...
Link2 - meter is a measure..(think of some device to measure lenth and having a line on it on it's boundary)...
Meteoric - used for someone who is achieving success very quickly
Usage - The young singer experienced a meteoric rise to fame.
